UN Commission on the Status of Women

Every year at the United Nations, New York, USA, the Commission on the Status of Women “CSW” (a section of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations) studies specific issues that relate to the lives and conditions of women and girls. AWA, with other organizations of the world, hosts receptions and panels to examine the position of, and impact on, global Africans and their communities, of the CSW theme issue of each year.

CSW is a division on the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The Council addresses the world’s economic, social and environmental challenges. CSW’s specific mandate is improving global standards of living by advancing and promoting women and girls. AWA takes up the global African perspectives of the themes of the CSW.
